Moderator and Keynote Speaker – Joining the Startups on Demo Day

The days are passing by and it won’t be long until we are all virtually celebrating together at the first ever Vision Health Pioneers Incubator online Demo Day! 

Day by day our excitement is increasing and we can’t wait for our 7 digital healthcare Startups to show you what their hard work over the past 9 months looks like and where they plan to go next!

To bring your excitement level up to ours we want to tickle your Demo Day taste buds by introducing the moderator and keynote speaker who will be joining the Startups on the evening of November 26th. 

Kicking off the event and accompanying you throughout the evening will be, startup founder, software engineer, master of ceremonies, conference organizer, community leader, and an all round charming personality with a lifelong passion for technology and development – Justin Halsall. 

Justin is founder of the company Record Once, has over a decade of startup and development experience and just like us is thrilled to step onto the virtual Vision Health Pioneers stage and guide you through this excitement packed evening, which will be filled with inspirational healthcare startup pitches and interactive Q&As with the founders.

In addition to that there will be an intriguing discussion with the keynote speaker of the evening, Medical Director at Babylon Health, Dr Keith Grimes.

Keith is also an NHS GP with nearly 20 years of experience on the front line of Primary Care, and the founder of VR Doctors, an online forum supporting the Immersive Healthtech community. 

A keen advocate of the power of technology to deliver quality improvement globally, he has delivered award winning Digital Medicine projects, as well as pioneering work in Clinical VR and Artificial Intelligence. He was an expert panellist on the Topol Review, an independent report on preparing the healthcare workforce to deliver the digital future, and leads the Babylon Clinical AI Fellow Programme.

We are sure that the discussion between both innovation enthusiasts will offer an additional splash of inspiration for all Demo Day attendees.

They all came from different backgrounds, had different nationalities or ideas, and one great thing in common – a vision for a healthcare product that can improve people’s lives. It took hours of brainstorming and learning, testing and failing to get to where they are now. Prototypes have been designed and built, apps have been created, beta products have been used and tested. Now it is time to share them with the world!

Scoping Workshops – Batch #2 Application Process

On October 5th 2020 the application process for healthcare innovators to apply to Vision Health Pioneers’ Batch #2 closed & we received applications from a total of 66 teams, from 17 different countries!

We look forward to seeing what the coming year will bring for all these interesting Startups & how their ideas will impact the Healthcare industry. 

From the 66 teams only 20 were selected to take part in the first selection process stage and join our Vision Health Pioneers Scoping Workshop!

What is that, you ask? A 3 hour online session, whereby they worked with experts and mentors on two canvases. The Scoping Canvas and Team Canvas. Watching the applicants in action gave us a better understanding of their ideas and team dynamic. Many of them who applied presented innovation tools for the first time ever. They benefited from expert advice and reflected on the status of their idea and the team values.

Vision Health Pioneers would like to thank these mentors again for coaching the startups during the workshops & for providing useful insights to support with the Batch #2 selection process.

Watching the teams in action is a great way to understand how the team members tackle tasks and solve problems. But overall the workshops are designed to challenge the participants to collaborate together in order to reflect and work on their business idea and team structure, all within an online environment, which provides a clearer insight into their business.  

This process is beneficial for all members who took part as it raises questions that may not have been previously considered and aims to push the teams and startup ideas to the next level, which ultimately prepares them for their entrepreneurial journey within the healthcare industry. 

Following the Scoping Workshops and after evaluations from our carefully chosen Jury panel, which is made up of healthcare, business and tech experts, as well as successful entrepreneurs, the chosen teams were invited to the final selection process stage – the Startup Interviews – due to start at the beginning of November 2020. 

We are very excited to find out who will be joining Vision Health Pioneers Incubator’s Batch #2, in January 2021 and to share this news with you.
